Cinema
Harkness provides screens for new theatre construction, renovation, and screen replacements within both 35mm film and digital projection auditoriums. Technologically savvy exhibitors know that the screen surface is one of the lowest cost items in fitting out a cinema, but it can have a major impact on the viewing experience. Gain screens such as our Perlux® brand screens reflect more light back to the audience, optimising lamp power requirements, which can significantly reduce operating costs.
Digital 3D Cinema
Harkness builds specialised screen surfaces to optimise all available digital 3D technologies, so it’s no surprise our products are the most widely used surfaces in cinema and special venue 3D presentations. All Harkness 3D screen surfaces are formulated to give high performance stereoscopic 3D images. Surfaces are available for both ‘passive’ and ‘active’ 3D projection, using either single or dual projector solutions, film or digital. Surfaces are also available for rear projection 3D. Harkness Screens are ideal for use with these and other 3D technology providers.
Large format screens
Harkness designs and manufactures screens and frames for “Large Format” venues worldwide, which have grown in prominence as large, immersive experiences have proven popular with audiences for mainstream and special-interest content. Applications for these large screens are in cinema, theme parks, and museums. Screen surfaces for 2D, 3D and special effects venues are available.
Screening Rooms/Film Production
Harkness makes screen surfaces and frame systems that meet the special needs of the film production industry. Screen surfaces are available for close viewing and to optimise acoustic performance for sound mixing. Frame systems are available for a single aspect ratio or for multiple formats, including asymmetric movement. Harkness screen surfaces support both film and digital projection.
